Project Timeline: 2017 Spring

A new adoration chapel in the women's dormitory of Roers Hall was dedicated on March 24th, 2017, commissioned by Monsignor Shea, the President of the University of Mary, Bismarck, and graciously funded by the generous support of Tony and Celia Vetter. Led by architect Adam Hermanson of Integration Design Group, PC of Colorado, it is a quiet and serene space of encounter with Christ. Four paintings were requested for this intimate and sacred setting, each depicting a scene of profound encounter with Christ - The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple, The Samaritan Woman at the Well, Mary Magdalene with the Resurrected Jesus, and Ss. Benedict and Scholastica in a scene of fraternal love heightened by their deep faith. The paintings are presented on icon boards of solid wood with a border of pure gold leaf. They are rather large in size; three are 5' x 5', and the fourth is 5' wide x 3.5' high. They have a gentle natural cupping, formed by the boards responding to humidity - the boards are "alive", breathing with their surrounding environment.
